Problem: The old courthouse surveillance system only had between 10 – 12 cameras for the entire building. Judges expressed concern about an inadequate level of security. Some places in the courthouse allowed easy, unmonitored access to the building. Other areas inside the facility were not monitored at all.

Solution: The courthouse now operates between 37 – 38 cameras monitored by a team of deputies. Dinwiddie County is planning to further increase the number of cameras installed at the courthouse as well as installing analytics on the cameras to further enhance the system’s capabilities.
